Lots of activities happening here in St Fintan’s .The children are all so busy practicing their Gaeilge on Lá na Gaeilge. Paddy from Binn Eadair CLG is here every Thursday, along with Transition Year boys from St Fintan’s High School teaching the children  gaelic skills. Dan our  junior FAI soccer coach has been called up to play for the under 16  Irish football team.

Karen our yoga teacher is here every Monday . The Music Mobile School is working with the children in  1st , 2nd and 3rd class every Tuesday. A number of classes are partaking in tennis lessons in  Sutton Lawn Tennis Club .The two fifth classes are enjoying their swimming lessons in Trinity Sports and Leisure Club.

The two fourth classes are busy preparing for The Peace Proms which will take place on Sunday 5th February. The two fifth classes held an amazing cake sale in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation and raised over two and a half thousand euros for such a good cause. Well done to the 5th classes!! The second  and sixth classes are busy preparing for their sacraments and are enjoying visits from Fr Cyril.

The two sixth classes are busy preparing for the Junior Entrepreneur Project. They are also enjoying the Science in a Box programme.

All classes from 2nd to 6th will be visiting the Abbey Theatre in March to see a performance called “The Table”.

We will be hosting a number of student teachers from DCU over the next few months. These student teachers will be working in a variety of classes.

One of our parents kindly donated a fish tank to the school. The children were so excited to see it. It is a welcome addition to our wonderful school.

I am currently in the process of organising a Grandparents Day in the school. On this day we will welcome the children’s grandparents to come in and speak to the children in their grandchild’s class about school life when they were young. We will provide refreshments for them after in the hall.

Friendship February is fast approaching. We will celebrate friendship, diversity, wellbeing and positivity with lots of fun events.

Sixth class children have restarted our perfecting programme with the infants. Fifth class  and senior infant children are sharing in the experience of paired reading and are enjoying learning from each other.

We are updating our school website http://www.stfintansns.ie  on a regular basis with photos of all the amazing activities happening in St Fintan’s.

Yours Sincerely,

Ms. Farrell
