Our school is located in beautiful Sutton, North Dublin, just a few minutes' walk from Sutton Strand and the Irish Sea. We cater for boys and girls from junior infants to sixth class. The St. Fintan's NS approach to education is all about helping children to learn and flourish in the present, as well as preparing the children for their futures. We provide a top quality, child-centered and very active educational program for all in our care. Whole School Evaluation-Leadership, Management and Learning
Whole-school evaluation (WSE) is a process of external evaluation of the work of a school carried out by the Inspectorate of the Department of Education and Science (DES). The process is designed “to monitor and assess the quality, economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the education system provided in the state by recognised schools and centres of education” (Education Act 1998, section 7 (2) (b)). Whole-school evaluation replaces the tuairisc scoile model of school inspection. Schools are evaluated in a cyclical procedure, in line with the annual inspection programme of the Inspectorate.
As you may be aware, a whole school evaluation(WSE)was carried out here in St Fintan's in February of this year. The WSE-Management, Leadership and Learning reports on the quality of teaching and learning and on the quality of management and leadership in a school. It affirms good practice and makes recommendations, where appropriate, to aid the further development of educational provision in the school.
I would like to thank the staff management team, the Board of Management, the parents, the teachers and of course our wonderful children for making our school the fantastic school that it is.
