HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
St Fintan’s National School was established on September 1st 1976 in temporary buildings on Burrow Road, Sutton. There were two teachers and 59 pupils present on that day.
On September 3rd 1981, a new school on Carrickbrack Road, opened its doors to approximately 350 pupils (currently over 400) and eleven teachers (currently 16).
The school was formally opened in 1982 by the then Minister for Education, Michael Woods and blessed by Bishop James Kavanagh.
At its peak the school rolls contained over 500 names.
